about

leaf all chef stories start with a poignant childhood memory and this one is no different. winnie hsia, chef/owner of naturally tasty, began her culinary exploits at the tender age of nine, when her maternal grandfather first taught her how to make breaded veal cutlets. she developed her own signature sauce - a balanced blend of heinz ketchup and a1 steak sauce. admittedly, her palate and culinary repertoire have expanded considerably since then.

having grown up in a family of restauranteurs, winnie has always felt at home in a bustling kitchen. as chef apprentice for elderberry catering, official caterers of the german consulate in new york city, she solidified her love of creative food and high quality service. she has worked with a broad range of clients, from art gallery owners and litigation attorneys to ambassadors and un diplomats.

winnie's move to austin in 2007 was propelled by the city's amazing sense of community and support of local businesses. she attends the natural epicurean in central austin thanks to a generous scholarship from the james beard foundation.
